Description

Cold Steel has never been afraid to break with convention. That's why, when everyone else in the industry made the smallest, flimsiest, dainty little knives that they could, Cold Steel released a series of blades that could only be described as one thing - pocket swords!

The Cold Steel Espada was inspired by the classical Navaja knives of Spain but was utterly modern in both appearance and materials. These mega-folders took the market by storm! A design collaboration between custom knifemaker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson, the Espadas are available in two sizes to suit both the bold and the boldest of individuals! Despite their imposing size, they are expertly designed to fit comfortably and discreetly in your pocket. You'll soon forget that you are carrying such a large and impressive blade. Equipped with the patented Demko Thumb Plate, the Large and Extra Large Espadas can be snagged on your pocket, opening the knife as you draw it - and opening in the blink of an eye! The popular Espada series is also available in a slim-line, tactical edition featuring a hard-wearing stonewashed blade and matte black G10 handle scales. The Espada's beautiful blades are made from Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel. Each Espada is equipped with the patented Tri-Ad locking mechanism, proven to have amazing shock resistance and strength. In their own notoriously brutal product testing, the XL Espada was not only capable of holding 600lbs of free hanging weight, but they even used it to support a hanging engine block!

The Blade is MASSIVE and is as cool as it is big. However that is where it ends. Obviously this beast is not practical or tactical, however it's certainly something toxic that you'll show off around the braaistand (I certainly will). The only issue is that the tri-ad lock coupled with the huge blade makes it almost too hazardous to handle. I've been forced to push down the lock on a surface while carefully closing the blade , while I wait to break it in. (i've already knicked myself once but I still have ALL MY FINGERS) Its Razor sharp !!!
In conclusion, as a collector this is a must have.
